Today has been a fairly quiet day today. I decided to go home last night and get some sleep. I got a phone call at 5:30am from the night nurse. Her first words were “Evan is fine” but she wanted me to know that his chest x-Ray showed some white spots which meant that oxygen was not flowing freely. They had to put him back on CPAP in the form of the mask. This will force the oxygen into his lungs to open them up. The downside is the bottles had to stop so he is now being given nutrition through his IV. He did not the mask so they switched to a cannula which he does not seem to mind. The reason this occurs after surgery is because he went from being on the ventilator which was forcing a lot of pressure into his lungs to oxygen only with no added pressure and because Evan has low muscle tone his breathes are a little more shallow than they should be. They will continue to monitor his oxygen levels and slowly try to wean him.
Evan is a wonderful patient and does not appear to be in any pain. He gets Tylenol every six hours as needed. He also gets his chest pounded every 2 hours or so as therapy to break up the congestion. He doesn’t mind the therapy but boy does he hate when they suction him out!!!
His big brother Cameron came to visit and his eyes lit up when he saw him and daddy. Cameron and Evan have an undeniable bond as brothers. Cameron has been a true rockstar through it all. He has truly adapted an taken everything in stride. We had to take him the pediatrician yesterday because his allergies are really giving him a hard time so he is on several different meds to keep them at bay. Cameron didn’t have many questions except for when can he come home!
I am going to spend the night since the marathon is tomorrow. Cameron was a little upset but he understood and he has a little surprise for him at home tonight – a snow cone machine! I also heard that he has a basketball game tonight against his auntie so I’m sure that will be lots of fun.
Thank you all for the continued prayers. Please pray for both of my amazing little boys!!
Here is Cam last night in his new Jammie’s! It’s a bird, it’s a plane..no it’s Cam-MAN!!
